Hyimpulse
Access to Space with Hybrid Rocket Propulsion
HyImpulse Technologies GmbH is an aerospace company based in Neuenstadt am Kocher, in the South of Germany. It was founded in March 2018 and is a privately funded spin-off out of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Institute of Space Propulsion in Lampoldshausen. The company develops dedicated sub-orbital and orbital launch services using hybrid propulsion-based launch vehicles.
At HyImpulse, the hybrid propulsion know how has a development heritage of 15+ years with over 100+ tests and latest successful test series of the full scale 75 kN flight rocket motor in 2020 and 2021 (TRL 7). This is the largest and most advanced hybrid motor to be ever tested in Europe, and currently in operation worldwide.
Products:
SR75 is a single stage sounding rocket using a hybrid rocket engine to deliver institutional and commercial experiments into a micro gravity environment during a suborbital flight. It will be able to carry 350 kg of payload to 200 km altitude. The maiden launch is planned for 2022.
Small Launcher 1 (SL1) is the orbital launch vehicle that enables affordable, frequent, responsive and safe access to space for small satellites. It has a payload capacity of 500 kg to a 400 km SSO / 675 kg to LEO targeting the high growth market of dedicated small satellite launches and the maiden launch planned for 2023. SL1 will be the first launch vehicle to use a hybrid engine with a Turbopump to feed the oxidizer in the world.
